Digital Marketing is a marketing that is done digitally to promote our business/product/services online. This form of marketing is commonly executed on social media platforms, applications, websites, etc. Through digital marketing, we can target a huge amount of audience and it leads to greater engagement. In short, When marketing involves following for their promotion of business is known as digital marketing

Through digital marketing, we can show our business worldwide by phone/computer/laptop only.

      Evolution Of Digital Marketing

In 1990, the term digital marketing was used first, At that period of time web 1.0 platform was developed which allows users to find information but does not allow them to share the information over the web. Digital Marketing content was not much popular at that time because the internet was not widely spread.

In 1993, The First clickable web advertisement banner was released. 

In 1994, yahoo was launched, and when yahoo came most of the companies tried to optimize their websites for ranking purposes.

In 1996, some more search engines were launched which are Hotbot, Alexa, etc.

In 1998, Yahoo launched web search and this was also the birth of google Microsoft.

In 2003, WordPress was launched.

In 2004 Gmail, Facebook and google goes live.

In 2005, youtube was launched.

In 2007, Tumblr was launched.

In 2008, Spotify was launched.

In 2010, Whatsapp was launched. 

2012 was the year of social media. Facebook and Myspace were the most popular social media sites among the peoples mean most of the generation were using Facebook at that time, So companies thought that these two sites can help them to spread their business online to a large audience. So, in this year companies were promoting their business and products on different social media platforms. 

In 2013, Yahoo acquired Tumblr 

In 2014, Facebook acquired WhatsApp

In 2015, Snapchat discovered its features, and also new technologies came like content marketing analytics.

In 2017, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Reddit, etc are popular sites. 

From that time to now new sites are coming and new technologies and analytics are also coming.

1) Digital Marketing is less expensive than traditional marketing:- Traditional marketing costs lots of money like in newspapers, televisions, pamphlets, etc. whereas digital marketing is cheaper. 2) Digital Marketing delivers analytics:- In comparison to traditional marketing, digital marketing deliver analytics this means that when digital marketer runs ads campaign then they can find out how it is running and through analytics, they come to know about CTR, and engagement, traffic. 3) Digital Marketing builds brand recognition:- Digital Marketing can build brand recognition worldwide by using social media platforms like youtube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, websites, etc. The Internet has a global reach and that's why your brand will be seen by a large audience.

2) Earn with Affiliate Marketing:- You can start your blogs/websites or applications as well. At the initial stage, you have to do a lot of hard work to gain traffic and after generating good traffic you can generate a good amount of income with affiliate marketing.
